Joe Flacco the star quarterback for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens believes quarterback Colin Kaepernick deserves a second chance in the NFL and said he would welcome the player to the team.
On Friday, a report online released comments made by Flacco where he spoke about Kaepernick not being given another opportunity and about not starting if he did come to play for Baltimore.
Flacco said he would be happy to see Colin in the NFL again and become at some point a starter again. However, he added he would not like that on this team, but yes he could play here, and enjoy himself as a backup.
It was reported earlier this week that Flacco could miss up to six weeks of action due to an injured back that instantly raised concerns he may not be ready when the regular season for Baltimore starts September 10.
An MRI that was taken later was called clean and the team’s star quarterback on Friday said the ailment was nothing more than some stiffness.
While the Ravens were waiting for additional information about the back problem of Flacco, John Harbaugh, and the team’s head coach confirmed that he had been in touch with Kaepernick during this past offseason, but only having casual conversations.
Harbaugh said that he and Kaepernick talked throughout this summer and that the two had great conversation via the telephone and was a pleasure speaking to Colin and getting to know him.
Harbaugh added that he likes politics and history as well, he and Kaepernick had a few debates and it had been fun. He called Kaepernick a great guy.
Harbaugh went on to say that Kaepernick is someone being talked about at this time and the team will have to see what transpires over that, but all it is, is speculation at this point.
Harbaugh called Kaepernick a good player and believes at some point he will play against in the NFL this year.
Kaepernick is one of the most high-profile players unsigned as a free agent. He opted out in March of his contract with San Francisco.
He made headlines across the country during last season for his decision not to stand during the playing of the national anthem. That made him one of sports’ most polarizing figures.
It has been reported that Kaepernick would stand during the playing of the national anthem this season if he was signed to play for a team.
